Landing pages are an essential part of any online business.
They are used for various purposes such as:
- Product promos
- Freebie opt-ins
- Webinar registrations
- Workshop trainings
- Video advertising
Basically any time you want your customers to take one particular action, a landing page is in order.
Landing pages are built one of three ways:
- On a fully hosted software platform
- Using a plugin with your WordPress theme
- Manually created with a WordPress page
Probably the most well-known example of a fully hosted landing page solution is the company LeadPages. The most basic plan runs you $40 a month and includes hundreds of customizable templates, integration with your email service, lead magnet delivery, analytics and more. My personal favorite is ClickFunnels and you can get a free 14-day trial HERE.
Your email provider might also provide a landing page option. ConvertKit allows you to create landing page forms that you can host on their servers or with your own domain.
The second option is with a plugin. Using something like Beaver Builder or Thrive, you can install the plugin and create fully customizable landing pages within your site.
The final option requires some basic tech skills since creating a page in WordPress doesn’t create a landing page automatically. You have to either have a theme that gives you a “landing page” option, or you’ll have to hide things like your menu bar, sidebar, and header with CSS.
The Genesis Framework by WordPress, the Get Noticed theme by Michael Hyatt, and Divi theme by Elegant Themes are three examples of themes that come with landing page templates built in so you don’t have to fuss with code.
However, you may not have any of the above mentioned themes, plugins, or software subscriptions and you still need a landing page. Here’s a hack that you can use – and it’s absolutely free and requires no coding skills whatsoever.
All you need is a free Mailchimp account to collect your email addresses. Here’s how you do it:
- Click on your list and then choose Sign up forms.
- Go to the general forms and hit select.
- You want to choose the general sign up form.
Then watch this tutorial and see how I do it! {there’s a few seconds of a delay}

Loved this!! I am at a crossroads because I signed up for Instapage and was trying to determine if I wanted to continue past the free trial which ends soon. Any tips for converting the forms I have created on instapage over to mailchimp?
